What do the Swiss think about their pension provision in 2021?

Dear customers,

Confidence in the pension system is sending up alarm bells!

More and more Swiss are embracing the idea of pension theft.

It’s true that many people still have faith in the system. However, more and more criticism is being voiced as the situation deteriorates.

The AHV stands out as the most vulnerable of the three pillars. Yet the trade unions’ initiative demanding a 13th pension increases benefits rather than the financial solidity of this social insurance: Is this proposal really relevant?

The fate of the occupational pension scheme is also of great concern to the population: while the reduction in the conversion rate proposed by the Federal Council and the social partners is not contested by any party, the measure is extremely unpopular.

The aim of the reform is to reduce this rate from 6.8% to 6%. However, over 80% of pension funds offer only 6% or less (see Swisscanto study).

The 3rd pillar (personal pension provision) is becoming increasingly important for securing your standard of living in retirement.

So who can really save in Switzerland?

Less than a quarter of the population believes their standard of living will remain stable after retirement.

With interest rates stagnating in Switzerland, pension funds are unwilling to change this key parameter. As a result, more and more people are becoming concerned.

Many people are convinced that annuities will not be enough to maintain their standard of living. On this basis, homeowners in particular fear having to part with their assets.

To counter this financial anxiety, more and more Swiss are turning to the solidity of ethical investments.
