“Today’s major challenge is to secure our future pensions”.

In an interview with the Tribune de Genève and 24 heures, Joël Ramos, Director of Argos prévoyance SA, discusses the major questions we are asking ourselves about our pension provision and the challenges it faces. This discussion is particularly important in view of the AVS stabilization reform to be put to the vote on September 25.

As an insurance broker, the Argos group draws on its 20 years of experience to provide its customers with optimum cover and the best possible management of their risks. Pro-activity and innovation are the watchwords of the management teams’ day-to-day approach, so that each customer always receives solutions that match his or her reality.

More than ever, the subject of pension provision is the subject of debate among the Swiss population, who have opposed many initiatives to date, and are generally not keen on change.

On this basis, Joel Ramos sets out in this article the 2 main elements – one demographic, the other more societal – linked to the challenge of securing future pensions.

From there, he develops the three types of possible solutions: raising the retirement age, increasing contributions and reducing retirement pensions.

On this occasion, he details the two main laws of the AHV stabilization reform, which, in short, aim to finance the AHV for the next decade.

Finally, he helps us to understand the arguments driving the debates “in favor of” or “against” this reform. As far as pension provision is concerned, he concludes that it would allow greater flexibility in managing retirement.
